For the “Evolució” collection, this series of 18 ceramic pieces has been made, entitled “Nous Socarrats” (new socarrats).
The “Socarrats”, are ceramic pieces that were manufactured in the fourteenth century until the end of the fifteenth century. They are, therefore, pieces of medieval origin. Typical of Valencian pottery, “scorched” being the translation of the Valencian word «socarrat». In the traditional Valencian “socarrats” images from medieval times were captured with graphics with a certain expressive deformation, typical of the time.
In this case, these “socarrats” are made with the same traditional technique, painted with slips on a 20×20 cm manual ceramic tile. which is then baked. They are placed on a 30×30 cm natural wood base. The motifs represented are more in keeping with our times and are related to the “Evolució” collection.
