This work is part of the series El Ser Caballo. The motivation behind this series is to induce reflection on the Human Being – Horse relationship. Reflection that can be extrapolated to the Human – Nature relationship. This series combines painting with technical image. In particular in this work collage has been used by adhering images from the most diverse sources. The main artistic reference being the pictorial collage of Kurt Schwitters (Germany, 1887-1948).
Rocking Horse is a pictorial collage made with images attached, ink and acrylic paint on a wooden support. With a large number and variety of images such as photographs, images from the media, “art nouveau” posters, plans and images with signs such as sheet music or literature. The main strategies used are: appropriationism, superposition, quotation (to Robert Rauschenberg), spatial and stylistic fragmentation by using very disparate images, but all with a formal unity through the use of color, brushstroke and the study of composition.
